Mohamed Omer Bushara
Peintre

N Omdurman, Soudan.
Diplm de lUniversit de Khartoum, avec la mention Honorable, Facult des Lettres, en 1972. Il a obtenu un diplme suprieur de Beaux Arts quivalent de la M.A, la Slade School de Beaux Arts, London University College.

Il a crit des articles sur lart dans diffrents journaux et magazines soudanais, arabes, britanniques et amricains. Plusieurs crivains et ditorialistes ont galement crit sur son uvre.

Il a travaill comme journaliste, traducteur et ditorialiste dans des journaux et magazines soudanais (1968 - 1977), et a t Chef de dpartement des Beaux Arts au Ministre soudanais de lInformation et de la Culture (1977-1981), organisateur et administrateur au Muse dAgriculture et du Patrimoine, Universit du Roi Faisal, Arabie saoudite (1981-1983), traducteur, Universit du Roi Faisal, Arabie saoudite (1981 - 1999). Il est actuellement Assistant de Conservateur au Muse dArt Moderne, Oxford, Angleterre depuis octobre 2000.

Parmi ses oeuvres on compte la conception de couvertures, les travaux artistiques et les illustrations de plusieurs livres. Son livre intitul Amatong, paru en 2003 aux ditions Grandir, France, contenant ses dessins en noir et blanc accompagns du texte dune lgende populaire des Dinka, du Sud Soudan, crit par le Professeur Francis Deng, est expos dans le cadre de lexposition Le Soudan, pass et prsent au British Museum, Londres (septembre 2004-janvier 2005).

Mohamed Omer Bushara ft le laurat du Premier Prix de Graphique et dArts Plastique du Magazine dArts Africain, du Centre dEtudes Africaines, Universit de Californie, Los Angeles (1974), ainsi que de ldition 2004 du prix Majory Field en technique dimprimerie, pour lequel il a t prsent en 2003 par les membres de la Cooprative des techniques dimprimerie dOxford, Royaume Uni.

Il est Membre de diffrentes associations artistiques.

Il a organis des ateliers et a particip des expositions individuelles et collectives. Parmi ses expositions individuelles on compte notamment:

-Dracinement, une exposition de dessins et typographie en collaboration avec trois potes du Nigeria, de Trinidad et de la Finlande aux Magdalen Road Studios du 24 octobre au n novembre 2003.

Mohamed Omer Bushara
Painter

Born in Omdurman, Sudan.

Graduated from the University of Khartoum, Faculty of Arts, B.A Honours, Sudan, in 1972, he obtained a Higher Diploma in Fine Art equivalent to M.A, on Slade School of fine art, London University College.

He wrote on arts for different Sudanese, Arabic, British and American news papers, and many writers and editors wrote about his work.

He worked as journalist, translator and art editor for different Sudanese newspapers and magazines ( 1968 - 1977), occupied the post of Head of the Fine Art Section, Department of Culture, Ministry of Culture and Information, Khartoum-Sudan, (1977-1981), Museum Organizer/Administrator at King Faisal University Museum of Agriculture and Heritage, Saudi Arabia (1981-1983), translator, King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia 1981-1999. He is now as a gallery assistant at the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford-England since Oct. 2000.

He created cover design, art work and illustrations for several of books. His book entitled Atong, published in 2003 by Grandig editions, France with his drawings in black and white with a text of a folk tale from Dinka tribe in Southern Sudan written by Professor Francis Deng, is currently on display as part of the exhibition Sudan, past and present at The British Museum, London, which runs until January 2005.

Mohamed Omer Bushara was awarded the first First Prize in Graphic and Plastic Arts from African Arts Magazine, African Studies Centre, University of California, Los Angeles, U.S.A (1974), the Marjory Field Award for 2004 in Printmaking, presented by Oxford Printmakers Co-Operative, Oxford, England, December 2003.

Member of different associations of art.

He organised individual workshops and participated in group ones. He exhibited his works in solo and group exhibitions. Among his solo shows:

- Dislocations: Poetry & Exile, a reading by Back Room Poets and an Exhibition by Mohamed Omer Bushara, an evening introduced by South African Anthropologist and Poet Renee Hirschon, at St.Columbas Hall, Alfred Street, 18 November 2001,Oxford, England.
-Dislocation, an Exhibition of drawings and prints in collaboration with three Poets from Nigeria, Trinidad and Finland at Magdalen Road studios from October 24th to November the 2nd 2003.
- Show at Modern Art Oxford Museum of Modern Art, Oxford, England, entitled A WOMAN OFFERING HER CHILD TO SILENCE, October 2004.
- Show at South Hill Park Arts Centre, Berkshire entitled Mohamed Bushara: Recent Prints (Collagraph/Etching), from October 16th to November 26th, 2004-Berkshire, England.
